Hello world!

This is new to me. I don’t really know where to begin. The all about me info is really about my daughter who I hope will take over this blog. I think it would be helpful and healing for her to post her thoughts and feelings and also to see that there are others out there like herself who are suffering from invisible diseases. I think it could also be encouraging for herself, others, and even me.  So until she is ready I will post for both of us.

Right now she is lying in bed in terrible pain. School just started here on August 19. She is doing concurrent enrollment with our local junior college taking online classes instead of going to high school and is also enrolled at the vocational school taking web design and also getting college credit for that class. Things started off well, she made it every day to the vo-tech class, (a whole 12 days in a row!) which is amazing that she felt well enough to do that. And then Bam! Yesterday the pain is again unbearable, hips hurting so bad that walking is slow, neck and back hurt so she can hardly sit up, all she wants to do is sleep but even that is difficult to do because every nerve is hurting just from the pressure of the bed. Still we are very fortunate. I thank God for 504 plans. For those of you who don’t know, this allows her to have modifications at school which in her case absences aren’t counted when she misses due to her illness. The teachers also send all assignments/tests home; give her extra time to complete if necessary; and the modifications can change as her illness does. Of course now that she is doing college classes I don’t know how it will work but those instructors are aware also and say they will do what they can. Last year she made it maybe 20 days out of 175 to class so she is very good and self teaching and still staying on the honor roll. That’s another thing we can think God for. He knew she would have this issue to deal with so He gave her the intelligence she’ll need to cope.

I believe that one day God will heal my daughter and all who ask for healing. And I thank Him in advance for that healing which will come in His time. If only His time and my time were the same, but I believe He knows what is to come and that this is somehow preparing her for something in her future. So I leave you with these verses from Psalm.

Psalm103

1 Let all that I am praise the Lord;
      with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
 2 Let all that I am praise the Lord;
      may I never forget the good things he does for me.
 3 He forgives all my sins
      and heals all my diseases.
 4 He redeems me from death
      and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
 5 He fills my life with good things.
      My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!

Welcome to Novel Patient Community! I think this is a beautiful thing you are doing for your daughter. She is very lucky to have such a supportive mom. I’m sorry to hear she’s been sick for so long and since so young. I hope you both find some healing through this blog and this site! Feel free to message me anytime…
